More than 1.1 mio crypto owners in Sweden - the Nordic frontrunner of crypto adoption

More than 13% of Swedish adults - over 1.1 million people - now own crypto, a significant rise since the 2025 survey and the highest rate in the Nordics.
Data from the Swedish Crypto Adoption Survey 2026 reveals a record year for crypto ownership in Sweden. With more than 1.1 mio crypto owners (up by 500.000 since last year's survey), there can be no doubt that mass adoption has reached Sweden.
A few highlights:
- 1.1 mio adults in Sweden now own crypto (corresponding to 13% of the adult population).
- The estimated Swedish crypto wealth is SEK 95 billion (or $10.2 billion).
- 30% of adults in Sweden expect to own crypto in the next 10 years.
- Among Swedes under the age of 50, there is a preference for crypto over stocks. SCB data shows 960,000 shareholders, versus the 1.14 mio Swedes reporting crypto ownership.
